Management of Challenging Behaviour
Our challenging behaviour team aims whenever possible to keep people with complex challenging behaviours in their own home. We apply functional analysis to understand the purpose of the behaviour for the individual and apply non-aversive behavioural support and positive practices to achieve behaviour change. By focussing on proactive strategies we reduce the chance of challenging behaviour occurring and identify appropriate reactive strategies to ensure family and support workers are confident to cope should incidents occur.
We provide training to the support team and work with them in a ‘hands on’ manner to ensure guidelines are agreed, understood and applied in a consistent manner.
